Thursday afternoon, I went to the craft store and bought a skein of bulky yarn for $5.99, and when I was bored later that night before I went to sleep, I made a hat with it.
I love quick, easy knits. To make this one, I used this pattern from Lion Brand, but instead of knitting 28 rows before the decrease, I knit 26, and then just left off the earflaps. Not too bad for $6! It's kind of big and loose, so if you have a small head (unlike me) I'd suggest going down to size 13 or even 11 needles instead of the recommended 15 and then just begin your decreases once you like the length. And because it's knit flat and then seamed which can be super annoying, I'd also suggest just doing it in the round if you know how, since it will eliminate that hassle.
